Dec 15, 2025
Hello ACE families,
This week we will finish out Term 1 by completing assignments up through Week 11. Teachers will enter grades and Academic Deans will compile report cards during the winter break, so please get all late assignments in ASAP. Plus, who wants to deal with missing work over the holidays? Best to get it done now so you can thoroughly enjoy the break! We will begin Term 2 on January 6, 2026.
Donation Drive/Team Game (Last week)
Earn 1 team point per item when you drop off canned foods or personal hygiene items in the boxes located across from the office. ACE families can use the food supply on the back counter in the school's kitchen behind the gym. The donations will be dropped off to Community Sharing this week.
Holiday Seek & Find Contest (Last week)
Congrats to last week’s winner, Poppy McCarthy-Cutts, Grammar C student, for finding the hidden Snoopy ornament. This week look for a little reindeer ornament. The item will be hidden in common areas around the school. If you locate it, don’t tell anyone! Visit the office to fill out a form and enter the weekly holiday prize drawing.
Frosty Fest Holiday Party (Thursday 12/18)
Our winter party will be a frosty/snowman themed event held this Thursday, December 18. We still can use parent helpers to ensure this event goes smoothly!
Party Schedule
11:00-11:45 Pre-Grammar (AM & PM class together)
12:00-12:30 Dialectic 4 & Rhetoric
12:40 - 1:25 Dialectic 2 & 3
1:35-2:20 Grammar C, D, & Dialectic 1
2:30-3:15 Grammar A & B
Here’s how you can help:
Prep, Set Up, Assist Students during Party, & Tear Down for the event
Food for the event (Grammar A-Dialectic 3 students need to bring a lunch on party day; these are just snacks for the event)
Holiday Costume Contest (Thursday 12/18)
We’ll have three costume contests going on during the party day: 1) Best wintry costume; 2) Best snowman wanna be; 3) Best crazy/ugly sweater. Just skip the pj’s and make sure your outfit is easy to wear on a school day.
Uniforms
If you’ve outgrown any uniform pieces and need to restock before the holiday break, just let us know. Sweatpants and skinny jeans aren’t approved uniform pants, and we’d like to order what you need during the break so we start out Term 2 back in uniform.
Fun Clubs Info.
The last day of Clubs for this term is Tuesday, December 16. Wheels participants need to take their bikes, skateboards, skates, and scooters home after Club.
Winter Term Fun Clubs will begin on Week 14 (no clubs the first week back to school).

January AIMs (Parent/Teacher Conferences)
In January, Academic Deans will meet with all Pre-Grammar – Dialectic 4 families for AIMS meetings (parent/teacher conferences). Parents will receive report cards and some one-on-one time with teachers. It’s a really fantastic opportunity to find out how things are going at school and ask any questions you may have (but remember, we always welcome your questions!). Use your ACE email account to log into the January AIMs link to access the school wide AIMs scheduling document. There are two tabs on the bottom of the spreadsheet (one for Pre-Grammar and one for the rest of the classes). Here you will choose what time to meet with your AD. You may also contact your AD directly if you have trouble accessing this spreadsheet.
Please do be careful when editing in this shared document. Here are some tips:
Choose your child’s time slot by looking under their AD/Class column. Look at the side columns to determine what day/time the meetings are.
Do not enter your name into black cells. Black cells are not available to schedule.
If a cell has a name in it that slot is unavailable, and you will need to choose a different slot.
Do not delete or add rows to accommodate your schedule. Instead, check with your AD if there are scheduling circumstances that you need to work around.
Using a cell phone in dark mode to sign up for AIMs will reverse the blacked-out cells which is confusing. Instead use a computer to sign up or email your Academic Dean.
Scripps National Spelling Bee (repeat info)
Classroom spelling bees will be held for Grammar A-Dialectic 4 the first two weeks in January, so study your spelling lists if you would like to participate. The winner from each classroom will go on to the schoolwide spelling bee to be held on January 22, 3 p.m. in the school gym. The school winner will have the chance to go on to the Regional Spelling Bee, if desired.
Spelling Lists: First – Eighth grade level student spelling lists were sent home last week. Extra copies of the spelling lists will be available at the office.
Have a great week!
